Post by mickyj Thu Nov 29, 2018 3:15 pm

The Woodville West Torrens Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of Jesse Lonergan.

Coming off the back of Jimmy Toumpas confirming his Oval Avenue return last week, Jesse Lonergan is set to play under the guidance of his uncle Sam Lonergan.

Measuring in at 184cm and 91kg, Jesse featured in 60 AFL games for the Gold Coast Suns after being selected at Pick No.13 in the 2012 AFL National Draft. Originally from Tasmania, Jesse arrived in Adelaide for the first time yesterday and threw himself straight into training, taking part in the 2km time trial.

On Jesse's signing coach Sam Lonergan said, "It's great to be able to work with Jesse in a football capacity. He will be a great addition to the Club. His work rate and appetite to compete will help set standards and drive to the team towards the ultimate success."

The Club is also pleased to announce the signing of ex-Richmond forward Ben Nason, 28, who has also crossed over to play for the Eagles in 2019, having previously played for Central District and Glenelg.

Nason, who measures in at 179cm and 80kg, knows the new Eagles mentor well as he played with Sam Lonergan at the Bays before moving back to the Bulldogs.

Please join us in welcoming Jesse and Ben to the Club.

Heard yesterday that Malcolm Karpany was going to South.
Jarrad Wright might have had something to do with him when coaching at the Eagles. Might need a clearance fee!!!!!!

I've read this on a couple of football forums.
One was answered by a South fan saying he's not certain.
Guess we wait to hear officially from a club .

clearance/transfer fee is $25,000.00 for returning players going to another club in the same competition, with Partington to Glenelg & Barry to Norwood this ends up saving both clubs the fee as obviously one cancels out the other !!!

Bayman, from your knowledge would PA have to pay a similar amount for Sutcliffe as a "marquee player". I am not sure why they need a Marquee considering the side is AFL players and rookies. What compo do the Eags get for the 2 rookie listed juniors from WWTFC.

No idea to be honest, being an afl franchise I dare say there would be a different set of rules, after all there seems to be two sets of rules for various things

Here you go Lee

Rules on AFL supplementary lists can be found here:
http://sanfl.com.au/news/2018/10/02/afl ... demy-team/

With the following outlining about the Crows/Power "leadership" player and confirmation of $25k transfer fee:

Also, a player payment cap will be introduced for the AFC and PAFC in line with the other SANFL clubs, consisting of:
- Match payments at a maximum of $400 per League match.
- An upfront/base payment maximum (per individual) of $4,000.
- Total upfront/base payments (collective) of not more than $20,000.
- In addition, the Leadership Player can only be paid a maximum upfront/ base payment of $20,000 and match payments of $500 per match. If the player was drafted from a SANFL Club prior to his AFL listing, there will also be a transfer fee payable to the SANFL Club in the sum of $25,000, as is the case if the player were to play for any other SANFL Club.

If the SANFL bring in these stupid marquee player rules they have to bring in some form of compensation to help protect the SANFL clubs. Most SANFL clubs who produce youngsters that get drafted hope to get some service from them at the end of their careers. A lot don't even play a league game before they are drafted.

The Dogs have also secured the 3 Neagle brothers.

https://www.bordermail.com.au/story/5789738/neagle-brothers-sign-with-sanfl-club-central-district/

They are the sons of the late Merv Neagle, a former Essendon and Sydney star.

Talking to a currently listed Dogs player recently, he was very excited about their signing.
