Re: Your Best by the Numbers.
Just so you know, I am logging these names down for you guys to present at the end.
Today is #33. Perhaps the most famous of these were Larry Bird (Boston Celtics) and Kareem Abdul Jabbar (LA Lakers), but unfortunately they didn't play SANFL....
So there are a number of candidates here...
Andrew Zilm (St)
Jim Thiel (Nd)
David Stoeckel (SA)
Darren Mead (PA)
Keith Kuhlmann (G)
Heavily stacked with defenders from the 70s - 90s, there must be a few here that you like. Others?

Keith Kuhlmann was also 33 at Westies.
As was Neil Jamieson, a wingman in the 60s.
Did Tony Burgess wear 33?

Mark Conway started his career at the Dogs in 33 but can't remember what he wore when he shifted to the Double Blues...

Big fan of Keith Kuhlmann when I was young. He had a monstrous kick on him. Regularly remember him dobbing into the middle of the Bay oval if he had a bit of a tail wind behind him.

I think No. 35 for West was Craig Ward.
No. 32 was also worn by Lee Ravlich.

Lee, I reckon your pick for number 30 would be a winner.

Pretty hard to beat, KR, but I think you might have a lock on some too

North had a number 30 who was impossible to beat when his knees weren't shot.

Leigh Ryswyk has been a pretty handy 32 for North over a long career.

Good call C.K. Another notable number 32 for North was Paul Arnold. Solid rebounding Half Back who played 226 games between 1980 -1990.
Never seemed to move very quickly but got the job done.

Re: Your Best by the Numbers.
Craig Cotter played a few games for the Dogs in the mid to late 90's in number 32.
Then shifted to West Adelaide for a season or two, but not sure what he wore at the Bloods.
Just a side note, is now a fitness freak and recently completed an Hawaiian Ironman event.

One of the more consistent players I have watched or called in the SANFL, over the last 10 years.C.K wrote:Leigh Ryswyk has been a pretty handy 32 for North over a long career.
I'll never forget that State Game against the NEAFL where he effortlessly kicked a bag of 7 goals.

Did Michael Armfield wear a number in the 30s for North?

Michael Armfield wore number 16 at North. Can't recall what number he had at the Bay before he came to Prospect.

Re: Your Best by the Numbers.
And so to #31........
A few to ponder.
Ray Wilson (St) - Pacy wingman from the 80s
Trevor Sorrell (PA) - 200 games and a couple of flags
John Seebohlm (G) - Another 80s vintage defender during the Bays purple patch
Jim Michalanney (N) - 70s/80s vintage Forward nicknamed "Piano" for his white teeth.
Stuart Palmer (SA) - South's resolute defender over 337 games (club record)

Wasn't the Tank, Ron Kneebone, number 31. If so he would be the best of the lot of them.

Re: Your Best by the Numbers.
Also Peter Simmons from North was a very steady player. His finest game may have been the 1987 Grand Final. Some judges thought he was b.o.g. in that game.
