COUNTRY FOOTY....general discussion
Anyone follow any clubs/leagues out in regional areas?
Anyone involved as a player?
Got any country footy-related predictions for the coming year?
I noticed most leagues around the state commence their 2012 season in mid/late April.
The points system, which was introduced a few years ago has evened up a few leagues across the state, although individual player payments have become increasingly higher each year.
Lets hope its another big year in country footy

Rumour has it - and I stress rumour at this stage - that Callington will not be competing in A-Grade in Hills Football League this year.

Probably not before time too.
They probably need to be relegated to B (or C Grade) so Hills Country can regain some lost credibility.
The focus will probably then go onto Sedan Cambrai.

Thats an interesting link, A Mum.
Interesting that although round 1 commences in a lot of leagues in mid April, the first game in country footy is tomorrow (Sunday April 1) with a game in the GSFL between Myponga and Yankalilla.

Article: http://www.adelaidenow.com.au/afl-legends-andrew-mcleod-and-jason-akermanis-play-country-football/story-e6frea6u-1226335195995
In this article Akermanis states: "play for as many games as I can for as many clubs as I can".
Does anyone know of any other SA clubs he is going to be playing for?

I'm not sure of any other South Australian clubs he'll play for this year. But last year he played against Millicent in a game where he was playing for Victorian club Heywood in the Western Border League.
