crowds for round 1
I'm thinking that the crowds overall will be down over Easter, think Thursday will be pretty good, Friday will be just better than ok & after that it'll be ordinary, now if i'm right where will the blame be laid,
1, because its Easter time
2, weather
3, cost of admission
4, Sheffield Shield final
5, any other excuse
Or am I wrong & it'll be a bumper round 1 weekend of crowds
What do you think?

Why? They're on separate days.

I am heading out to Noarlunga on friday and would hope there would be a good crowd, This is the tv match so this may affect the crowd. Also heading to Unley on monday to watch Sturt v Eagles, Being the first match of the year hoping supporters of both teams turn out in big numbers.

The good Friday match usually gets a good crowd. I would expect 4,000 or so.

Interesting to see a good Friday match at Elizabeth, when was the last time central played a home match that wasn't Saturday afternoon?

Any ideas as to why no sunday games? I would have thought this is a way to increase crowds as local footy is on Saturday and many people wouldn't be able to attend, with a sunday game, many of the local supporters and players may be able to attend.

well i'm not sure of the actual numbers but it seems like it'll be a bumper weekend of figures, last night was good, today at Noarlunga it was over 9,000 & i don't know what they got at Elizabeth, well done to the programmers, the weather & more importantly those who went to the matches, although i'll be going to the cricket i hope the next two games attracts above average crowds, keep up the good work !

SANFL just tweeted that the crowd at Noarlunga was just under 4,000. Think it was closer to 6,000. Definitely not 9,500 as originally reported.
Crowd at Elizabeth was just under 5,000.

Thought I saw that the SANFL gave the Noarlunga crowd as under 4,000, not near the 9,000 quoted on TV.

during the line up (i was there early) a friend was told coming into the gate that it was up to 6,000 at that stage .....i thought between 5 to 6 thousand, although it is harder with cars inside

Re: crowds for round 1
Can someone please explain how crowd numbers are determined. I was at Noarlunga on Friday when the SANFL official showed me the attendance figure on his smart phone that was around 9500. This was also reported by television and club officials. Next I read in the media that the crowd was 3500. How can this confusion reign? Is there an advantage in having a smaller crowd? What was the match day revenue?

Wests crowd was given as 2195.
There were more than that there.

I agree Bayman, seen the crowds over the years at Noarlunga and can pretty much say that crowd was between 5 to 6 thousand.
No idea why SANFL gave the figure of under 4K. It definitely was not that.

I wonder sometimes if they only count paying customers and discount club courtessy tickets (life members players staff for example) is an interesting question

Was it decided how many were at the good Friday game at Noarlunga? I also notice on sunday at Noarlunga there was only a crowd 1,600.

3,859 the official figure given at Noarlunga on Good Friday.
Comfortably 5,000 there, easy. Obviously not even close to 9,800 or whatever outrageous figure was quoted initially.
1,611 there on the weekend but honestly looked closer to 2,000. Lot of people seemed disappointed with the crowd but it looked alright from my view.
Last season we apparently drew 1,300 to our rescheduled clash against the Crows. That crowd looked easily half of what we had on the weekend.
