Interesting odds I've missed so much as you all know
Westies my sources telling me suffered greatly from the draft
Don't ask me about the Eagles I've got much to see

It's rare for teams to do what Westies did last year by going all the way a year after finishing near the foot of the ladder, so I'm not suggesting it will happen twice In 2 years - But there's usually a bolter and I reckon Sturt are a good chance to be that team. At those odds you could take them just hoping to make the 5 then back against them in finals if you wished to guarantee a profit.

Westies 5/1, third favourite?
Anyone want to hazard a guess why?

Fair enough to see them behind the Eagles. WWT were the pick of the sides for all but 1 game in '15 and they've added some real class. Norwood have also added some quality with Johnston, many people thought their '15 was a little under their usual standard.
Westies lose Beech and Snelling, don't seem to have added all that much.
Fair assessment?

Pretty much Booney
I'm only going by what I've read
Hoping to make it to an Eagles game to see the recruits

And Keough, one of the best defenders in the League last year...

When you say we haven't added much, had you forgotten Zac O'Brien, probably close to the best credentialled of all recruits this year?
To come into our premiership side are Agostino, Homburg, Brind, Hardy, etc.
12 months more experienced at the game style also.

You certainly did, Booney and it was a good guess, too.
My mistake not realising that stopped me from responding.

For a minute there I though I was the only one who got a bit precious when defending my club. :-)

re West, they also don't have a great record of late of making 2 grand finals in a row so 3rd is probably about right.

"of late"? It's not 1966!

No but we will have had 3 chances in the last 13 years to play in consecutive Grand Finals, and so far in that period haven't.

i spoke to a Sturt man today & he thinks they'll struggle because they have no one up forward capable of kicking goals on a consistent basis

Yeah on paper thats the glaring weakness, but who knows .. Most people (myself included) rate Mattner, and maybe he'll find a way to make small-ball work for them?
