Weight Loss
I've told Westies that I need a good pre-season next year.
My clothes also seem to be shrinking.
I'm going on back to back cruises soon.
By then, I think my clothes will shrink further.
The fitness coach has given up on me.
Taking all that into account, when I get back, I think this thread might have to be appropriate for me.
Anyone else?

Re: Weight Loss
Depending on where you source the stats , it shows that a staggering 1 in 3 people in Australia are currently obese
Kids are approximately 25%
Adults are approximately 60%
That more than half the Australian adult population is considered obese is an overwhelming stat
An indication of where we are now
When you see photos going back to the 1900-1970 times, you wont see too many obese people
LOOK at photos 2000-2015 and you will see many people who are obese
I reckon sometime in the later part of the 1960s to present day the amount of overweight people started increasing
So what started this trend , in Australia and indeed just about every other nation in the world ?

Re: Weight Loss
I am with you there Lee.
The last few years I have thrown on the Ken Cunningham's (KG'S) and to be honest I am very embarrassed about it,
I was a tradie and now have had a desk job for 2 years, a 4 year old child who had health issues I stopped exercise as I found I had no time and life's events stressed me out. I probably took it out on food.
Not sure where to start. I have always been up and down like a yo-yo but I am concerned as I want to love a long life and see my daughter grow up.
Tried most things but just end up going back to bad habits.
Not good......

Re: Weight Loss
Best thing find a good dietitan and stick by what they tell u .
Everyone knows I've lost 26 kilos . Weekend my jeans were getting big again hoping to have lost more .
But keep in mind what works for one person may not work for the next person

Depends Bayman whats healthy for me may not be for you !!
At one stage i was eating two mandarins the size of 20 cent pieces for smoko. got told off big time by a diabetic nurse .
Then that brings smoko up got strips torn off me by a certain GP and diabetic specilaist .
'When i finally decided to do something again and went to a dietitian . He asked about meals and I'm going breakfast at 5.15/5.30 am lunch at 12 noon . I said used to eat fruit for smoko until i was told to stop !!
He was almost like what the . You cannot go that long without eating when your diabetic .
Yet two other experts had said you can !
Hope that makes sense everyone is different

Re: Weight Loss
Agree with Micky and Bayman, for me to drop 25kg in about 6 months was a mixture of exercise and better food choices, a fairly serious health scare chucked in for good measure helped a bit too but I strongly recommend you give anything like that a miss.
I started losing weight by walking about 4-5km a night, then changed the food, low fat milk instead of full fat, wholemeal instead of white bread, more vegies because most of them you can eat as much as you want and they fill you up.
More than anything its all about the motivation, especially at this time of year, my motivation 12 months ago was almost losing a mate 30 years old to a heart issue then 2 weeks later losing an old school friend 38 years old to cancer. Little did i know 6 months later I'd end up spending 4 weeks out of 5 in hospital and 15 weeks off work for a fairly full on surgery, luckily my 6 months of trying to look after myself had made a bit of a difference for my recovery.
Good luck with it!

Re: Weight Loss
I think wholemeal is basically the same as white bread.
There is a low carb wholegrain bread out there in supermarkets that has a GI value of 24. That is pretty low.
But it is $6 for a half loaf. It is packed with seeds. Not cheap (cheep?). Yes you do feel like a budgie, but I like it. Cheep Cheep!

If you burn off more energy than you put into your body on a daily basis, you'll lose weight.

FISH
Fatsecret site
They have listed the calories in fish
One example is as follows
139 calories : 100 grams steamed fish
199 calories : 100 grams battered fish
Thats quite a difference
Does this mean
When I hook a fish
if the fish in its frenzy
hits itself against the side of the boat, or the side of the jetty , and gets battered
it will have more calories ?

AUSTRALIAN BUREAU OF STATISTICS
1995-2012 [report in the 17 years leading into 2012]
INCREASED KGS
82.0 -85.9 Males
67.0-71.1 Females
The average mens and womens weight has increased about 4 kilos in a period of less than 20 years
So in 2012 the average mens weight is almost 86 kilos
So it would mean that the average weight is lower the further we go back
