redbacks v tigers Ryobi cup grand final 25/2/2012
well after winning the big bash last year, can the redbacks climb up to the next mountain & win the Ryobi cup this saturday ? & then in the years to come climb up the ladder of the shield table & win that..................did hear an interesting stat on the ABC yesterday S.A. have won 2 of their last 27 shield matches, however lets just worry about this match & get the cup this week, looking forward to going on saturday, is anyone else heading down there ?

the free entry is a smart move imho, 2,000 to 3,000 crowd may now get up to 8,000-10,000 which off course creates great atmosphere, a good look on tv & vocal support for the players

As far as I can tell, it's only Tests and the Shield matches.

Yes, but after his axing from the Aussie One Day side, it is possible that Ponting may play for them this weekend. He said himself in the press conference this morning that in the next day or two, he will have a chat with the Tassie coaches and players about the possibilities of him playing in the Ryobi final.

according to the ABC cricket coverage today, Ponting is almost certain to play on saturday.........FREE ENTRY to watch Australia's second best batsman of all time, surely it should be a full house

I've got mixed feelings on this one. I'd hate Ponting to be the only reason that Tassie got up. Then again it could be the great man's last appearance on our hallowed turf and worthy of a standing ovation upon both his entering and leaving the wicket regardless of his score. An ideal result would be a Ponting ton and the Redbacks still getting up.

Forecast 34 and thunderstorms for Saturday
Or as Tony Greig would put it on 12th Man, 'Stinking ******* hot, stinking ******* humid, and a thunderstorm to completely **** up the afternoon session'

The rain has now been deferred until Monday and I forgot that Ricky will also play in the shield match commencing on Wednesday.

There's a six Tests in Australia (Sri Lanka and South Africa) between now and the next Ashes, surely he'll be at Adelaide again.

So often when SA get a great star, they lose it in the middle overs.
Let's hope that doesn't happen today.

Tassie 3/151 after 31.
Need 135 off 19, Bailey and Ponting in. Classic finish coming up.

As I thought, SA slowing down in the middle overs when they were well on top might come back to bite them.
Tassie needing about 80 of the last 10 overs, with 7 wickets in hand, should get there.
