Re: SANFL players drafted in 2013
I would think he would play for the Crows Reserves side...
Tippett may still be a chance in the Pre-Season or Rookie Draft next week?

So Riley Knight from WWT moves from there to the Crows Reserves to play against WWT next season?

I believe you're right Phil. I just found the answer in the SANFL's "Ageement" document setting up the Crows reserves.Big Phil wrote:I would think he would play for the Crows Reserves side...

"Listed players
- All AFC listed players (including Rookie listed) to play with AFC support team should they not be in the Adelaide Crows team."
I suppose this applies to Port as well. Though it's a bit hard to be sure of anything right now.

I just assumed that if a player nominated for the main draft, they are eligible for the Pre-Season and Rookie Drafts...brodlach wrote:BP I am sure he only nominated for the draft and not the other two like last season

Correct, Phil - players don't nominate for "separate drafts" as such. If eligible for one, it is automatic for all.Big Phil wrote:I just assumed that if a player nominated for the main draft, they are eligible for the Pre-Season and Rookie Drafts...brodlach wrote:BP I am sure he only nominated for the draft and not the other two like last season
The slight exception is the ruling about players who have not competed in a recognised competition for some time and are drafted as "project players" (eg basketballers or athletes who are new to football). While they can be drafted in standard drafts, they can also be taken as "separate players".

He can always opt out of course. It's not compulsory like the army yet. Give 'em time though, just give the blighters time.brodlach wrote:Last year he said that if he wasnt drafted he would not go into the rookie draft

I thought a player could nominate for the PSD without having to go through the main draft?eartotheground wrote:Correct, Phil - players don't nominate for "separate drafts" as such. Re: SANFL players drafted in 2013
Scrunch, if that happens, Norwood would have lost almost half their premiership team. Even allowing for their depth, given their recruiting restrictions it must be a big problem?

Yes Redandblack I think they will come back to the pack next season, although there's probably no reason why they shouldn't be contenders again. They had a fair buffer on all opponents this year, and 6-10 league players that couldn't get into the GF team.

Re: SANFL players drafted in 2013
I agree they were about 6 goals better than the rest last year.
Thomas would be a major loss and Norwood would have to be hoping they don't further lose any or all of Davis, Baulderstone and Georgiou.

I would expect some of those guys to get taken in the remaining drafts

if you take 6 first pick players out of a team they will struggle, no matter how much depth there is

Hard to argue with that. Although next season could be more interesting on that front to its uniqueness with all clubs despite the new talent they will bring in, all will be losing some quality aswell.bayman wrote:if you take 6 first pick players out of a team they will struggle, no matter how much depth there is

Re: SANFL players drafted in 2013
It certainly is an interesting situation. Particularly for clubs with a large turnover of AFL players. Obviously it's something we're very conscious of at Sturt. This year we used 9 AFL listed players in our league side, who played a total of 101 games between them. That will take some replacing, even though some of the comings and goings had a negative impact on team stability at times. Nonetheless players like Graham (18games) McIntyre (17) Tambling (14) Martin (11) Jaensch (11) gave us good service.Scrunch wrote:Hard to argue with that. The port blokes you signed will cover all of these except the ruckman Graham

Providing he does not play for WWT in season 2014, that is correct, Port and Power boys are a different kettle of fish

Why would he play for WWT in 2014, TP?

Re: SANFL players drafted in 2013
I think TP's point may be that there will be more top up players than there are places for, in the Crows reserves on most weekends. So those who miss out would play for their regular SANFL club. Sturt have a similar situation with Jack Penfold, who was in our reserves this year. So he might end up playing for us one week and against us the next.

If you're drafted by an AFL club you are not a top up player.

Exactly Flag No9. These guys are no longer SANFL club property hence they must play for the AFC or PA-Reserves-FC The top-up players go back to their SANFL clubs when not required
