Preliminary Final @ AAMI Stadium: Centrals 15.12.102 – Glenelg 17.10.112
The Reserves Grand Final sees an unlikely match up of the Minor Premiers the Eagles taking on Glenelg, who have come from 5th to reach the Grand Final.
After a slow start, the Eagles have dominated the Reserves competition, winning their past 11 matches, though they were given an almighty scare by Centrals in the 2nd Semi Final to fall over the line by 5 points.
Glenelg on the other hand had to battle just to make the Reserves Finals, with a 5 point win over Port in round 23 seeing them secure a Reserves Finals birth. From there, they haven’t looked back, a solid win over Sturt was followed by tight wins over North and Centrals to storm into the Reserves Grand Final in great form on a 4 game winning streak.
The two meetings between the Eagles and Glenelg in the Reserves have been very one sided affairs to the Eagles, but so were Glenelg’s minor round meetings with Centrals, so minor round form can be thrown out the window.
Will the Eagles be rewarded for their dominance in the Reserves with the Reserves premiership, or will Glenelg make it two years in a row that a side has come from fifth to win the Reserves Premiership, and see the interesting situation of League wooden spooners winning the Reserves premiership?

The path that both of these teams have taken in this finals series is almost a replica of the 2009 one, with Glenelg coming from the EF, Eagles from the minor premier spot, both defeating Central - 2nd Semi and Preliminary. Glenelg also defeated Sturt in the 2009 finals, although that was in the 1st Semi.
Grand Final meetings in this grade have been in 1992, 1993 and 2009, 2-1 in favour of Eagles.

Only three occasions has a club won the Reserves flag, but finished last in the League:
1912 - North
1941 - Torrens
1949 - Sturt

another uphill battle but the boys are playing with freedom, flair & intensity so if we have luck on our side you just never never know, the last Grand Final between the teams was amazing at half time Wwt led by 7 or 8 goals & Glenelg ran over the top of them, mind you Glenelg had a lot better team (body wise) than we'll have this week, i reckon Aaron Day played for us that day, from memory i know Godden's move of Duldig & Macconnell onto the ball after half time was very crucial in turning that match around, i'm hoping but not expecting a win but all the pressure is on the Eagles

more inside 50's
more scoring shots
kept them goal less in 2 quarters
sounds all too familiar
the boys gave there all & just didn't quite get the choccies & as mentioned basically the first 3 minutes of the last term was the difference scoreboard wise, disappointed to lose but very proud of the never give in attitude of the team....well done to the Eagles who were clearly the years best team
