The triple J hottest 100.
A sad day to see that chart this year.
Music is in trouble.

Agreed. Had it on all day, but hardly noticed what song was playing when. From the start, I think it was clear that 'Thrift Shop' was going to be No.1. Made it boring as all hell. And the cricket wasn't much better either.

I certainly found the top 20 pretty disappointing. Still plenty of good music Aussie around though.

Triple J's just announced that they're going to play the songs that came from 200-101 this week...

Our public transport system completely falling apart tonight - took forever to get home tonight waiting for a bus with room to take us on...

My gripe is that they should have kept the tram network, and kept a few more rail corridors available or existing ones open (i.e. Willunga line). The MATS plan from 1969 or the 1970a would have been great for Adelaide, but unfortunately short-sighted governments and societies have kept Adelaide from developing into a great city. It's paying for it now as the population increases and it keeps expanding.

i think if they had the money the tram extensions that have occured would be occuring in many suburbs, both near city & the outer suburbs, these days surely electrifying the rail & light rail systems is more beneficial to the enviroment

Re: What's Not
I get that back then petrol was apparently cheaper than water, cars were becoming more affordable etc so it became a very car-centric city. I know the population boom hasn't been as big or as fast as the East Coast or the West, but if they went ahead with the plans, they wouldn't be wasting money now, 40 years later on. Living in the country now for the past 7 years, I understand how a country mentality can hinder development and infrastructure projects!! Adelaide once suffered from that mentality, it probably does in some cases still now!

Agreed. I reckon if the MATS plan had been fully implemented we'd still be the '20 minute city'. From a football perspective, it would at least halve the time it takes to get from Elizabeth to Noarlunga!
Now it can take well over an hour to go from Mile End to Salisbury in peak times.

CityRail.
In a city like Sydney, why the hell does the NSW government have a mob on the rudest public servants I've ever met operating their ticketed stations. You'd think being a tourist city they'd have tourist friendly staff operating their stations, particularly in the City Circle.

Banks.
Who'd have thought refinancing investment properties would be so hard? Technically it's not, but banks make them hard by picking out every little number, even when you've done the maths yourself and abided by all their rules, fees and charges.
I guess they learnt their lesson in 2008 or whenever.

Re: What's Not
HTWWW, banks operate on several principles, two of which are as follows:
1 If you can prove you don't need a loan, they'll give you one, unless...
2. If you are a very large company, they'll give you what they want regardless, because what's a few hundred million to write off. If you've banked with them for decades, have never had a problem and want a $500 temporary loan, see your post

A Son and his girlfriend nearly getting killed on the Princes Highway half an hour ago.
Some idiot pulling out in front of them - they are doing 100ks along the highway - 'idiot' with a caravan on pulls out 10-15 meters in front of them - they have to hit the brakes - car swerves onto other side of road - oncoming traffic - oncoming traffic luckily sees whats going on and gets out of the way.
Two shaken up kids and one distressed mother recieving the phone call.

at least everyone is ok albeit shaken, the fact they rang you shows maturity & they weren't being stupid on the road because if they were being stupid on the road as well as the caravan, they wouldn't have rung you A Mum, so be proud of them, i know i would be

After reading the headline my initial thoughts were, that Eldrick Tiger Woods was at it again.
It was however, a topic on Virgin Airways in a takeover bid over Tiger Airways , phew !

Re: What's Not
We moved house in January and had Foxtel installed.
The 'installer' told us that our antenna was not 'digital ready' and it needed to be replaced and that we also needed to have the plugs 're-done' in the wall before April.
He left us a costing of $250 for the Antenna and $85 per 'plug'. Told us to get back to him ASAP as things were going to get crazy and prices might not hold at that price.
We are renting - so we email the landlord - get a reply with a link to the government site basically saying you don't need a new antenna.
We think well okay we'll see.
Today - day of turning off analogue - guess what??
We have TV still !!
So we could have paid out (or the landlord in our case) all that money for nothing.
Wonder how many people have been ripped off - because I certainly believed he was giving me the correct information.

Re: What's Not
Eldest daughter and boyfriend having a holiday on the Sunshine Coast QLD, they decide to go and watch the Crows v Brisbane at the Gabba on the weekend... They park their car about 4 streets away from the ground, One signs says no parking 9am - 5pm Monday to Friday (this is Saturday
) so they parked the car and went to the footy. On their return, a parking ticket for $75 on the windscreen.
They looked up and down the street, a few other cars are also parked but no tickets on windscreens.
A man walking his dog said, it was a dirty council trick to raise revenue with interstaters. My daughter had her own car with SA number plates.
Long story short... they are not paying the fine.

did they take photos of the signs ?
send a letter first & see how you go
i wouldn't pay it either, it is a long way for them to come & get it, especially when you say you have no credit cards or cheque books etc
