are 2 coaches in strife ?
would Kris Massie & Ron Fuller be in trouble to keep their respective coaching jobs next season ?
i'll say yes to both
when Ron is quoted as saying ''they don't/wont follow game plans'' it is easier to get rid off one man than several players
with Kris well i don't think it is completely his fault, he finished playing he had 1 year coaching u/18's then a half year in the reserves & got the call up to league coaching, hardly a solid base of experience etc to work with so the bloke got thrown into the deep end, the fault belongs to those that make the decisions & listen to their friends when drinking at the bar, i (now) think the Metcalf decision to 'step away' was made so it wasn't him that got rid off 2 coaches in succession & was a plan if things didn't go well, while they wont sack Kris during the year however i think there will be no doubt they wont give him another contract
i think all other coaches are safe
thoughts anyone ?

Hmm.. I think how the second half of the season progresses may clarify whether Seamus has a longer future at Unley. More of what was produced yesterday won't hurt his cause.
Similarly for the other 2 mentioned.

Depending on results, or lack thereof, over the coming weeks, there could be some movement in the coaching fraternity before the season finishes?

Ron has lost the playing group IMO and quotes like that won't help his cause. I tipped him to be first coach removed this year.

Another South coach who has lost the players?

Interesting times isn't it ?
Ron has definitely not lived up to what was set up at the start of his time at South. I am and others I know are very disappointed with the results so far. He has 1 year to see out next year but the thing is Ron is the highest paid coach in the SANFL (full time).
What would you do? See him out for next year or pay out some big coin to him?
I would see what the results are at the end of the year but personally I think he has lost the playing group and some of the structures and player selections are totally baffling me at the moment.
The other thing is crowds are right down at home games as I know even some die hard South supporters have basically given up for the year. Who can blame them really with broken promises and being stringed along for processes like 5 year plans etc.... We keep hearing it with letters and talk but it never happens.
The membership structure has also isolated alot of previous members and supporters as well. I know at least 5 people who did not renew due to the silly membership options. It did not make people want to be part of the club as a member.
This is just my personal opinion really as to be honest I feel I have nearly lost faith in the club too as i write this. I will always be a absolute die hard South supporter and have heard all the jokes and taken alot but I really see no light for a long time coming unless something dramatic changes once again.
Something stinks down their ATM and I have no idea what it is......I can only guess right now.

I think its too soon to tell with Massie. They have lost a lot of senior footballers who couldn't quite complete the task when they were around the mark. They need more games into their younger players which takes time and some selective quality recruiting in the off season. I would give him until the end of 2014 but I have no idea whether they will or not.

You were not the only one having the Panthers improving this year, waddyamean...
I had them finishing just outside the 5, CK tipped them to play off in a Grand Final !!!
Now, they are looking more likely fror the wooden spoon than Sturt are, perhaps?

Can South get any worse under anyone else? Might as well let Fuller play out the last year of his deal in 2014 and save the $100k+ they would have to pay him out.
Who would wany anything to do with Glenelg?
Massie clearly isnt the answer and the coaches seat at Brighton Road once more will start to conform to one bum and another one will be in it before too long.

this weekend's South v Glenelg match could be a season defining match for one of the coaches.

Re: are 2 coaches in strife ?
I think Massie's problem is a lack of experience within the group.
They have had a big clean out over the last 2 years due to retirement and players leaving.
The Bays were very reliant on their AFL listed players (Lynch, Lyons, Logan)and they have lost nearly all of them, possibly for the season. You look at the rest of the list and if you take out Kirkby (who has been injured), Mules, Allen (who is badly out of form) and Tenance (who hasn't played for 4/5 weeks) and there is not much experience left. Very few, if any, of the remaining players who have played 50 games or kicked 50 goals. They are possibly the most inexperienced list in the comp and it shows.
However, if the team can show fight and not get blown away every time they play a top 4 team then Massie should get another year. If the second half of the season turns ugly then they may show him the door.
