Great effort by the Bloods to bounce back from the loss on Anzac Day.

One thing that I haven't been able to find out about is WHY did Westies wear there clash strip at a home game ? Why weren't glenelg wearing theres ?

It was decided by Collins and players about an hour before the main game, Glenelg did not wear an away strip in the reserves and questions were asked to Glenelg if they were going to wear one in the league side. Obviously they said no, so West decided it better to wear the reversible strip, i think Glenelg should look at getting one in a similar style. ( different colors of course Very Happy )

Didn't Glenelg have a yellow one last year?? I know it wasn't popular (cause of some silver in it or whatever) but it's better than nothing.

Good to see that West are a sensible lot.

You're the ones that changed guernseys in 1981 so you clashed with us. Why should we change?

Oh please, an argument from 1981?? Do you really expect that to hold up in court? Rolling Eyes

I'm not a big fan of the new Tigers away strip but I am surprised that they didn't change. Unless Westies decided that they would change so Glenelg didn't have to?

I always thought Glenelg's away strip was only temporary.

Glenelg could simply take a leaf out of Westies book and do an reverse of colours (similar to the old WA State of Origin guernsey)

the '1934 jumper' that we wore a few years back at Prospect is the one that should be used as an alternative, gold with a black V

Spell_Check: when calling this match, I noted one unusual statistic and wonder if you have a precedent for it.

From the 6 minute mark of the 2nd quarter, until three quarter time - the teams combined for 15 goals straight. That is around 47 minutes of game play without a behind being kicked.

Has that been bettered in recent times, that you know of?

Is it the length of time without a miss, or the number of goals? Length of time would be hard to find, even for the recent seasons as the live scores on the SANFL website get taken down weekly. They have left the first four rounds up from 2011, however.

Last year when Central kicked 23.2; 11.0 was in the last quarter and South kicked 4.0 in the same period. What came before that I don't know. It was 3.1 to 2.3 in the third.

That is a record for most goals by both sides in a quarter without a behind. There is another candidate for the length of time which comes to mind, because it was a match I highlighted in this thread:

spell_check wrote:Having a look at the final scoreline, some of you might be interested in this particular match, exactly 14 years and 2 days before this one:

Round 6 1999
Glenelg 2.1 12.1 14.6 18.7 (115)
West 4.1 6.1 9.3 10.5 (65)
Lameroo, 1223

Glenelg: Liptak 4.1, Cook 4.0, Hele, McEntee 2.1, Grenvold 2.0, Byrne 1.1, Feddema, Higgins, Jameson 1.0, Chigwidden 0.1, Rushed 0.2.
West: Mellor 3.2, A.Richardson 2.2, Myles 2.1, Connell, Dempsey, Jones 1.0.

The 12 goals without a miss combined was the previous (equal) record in a quarter before last years South/Central match. When both of those behinds were scored in the first quarter is the key point.
