Round 6: West v Glenelg, Friday 3 May @ City Mazda Stadium
West v Glenelg
Friday 3 May
City Mazda Stadium
Reserves: 4:30pm
League: 7:10pm
West are coming off a fading loss to Norwood, where the fallout of half time is still under discussion. Glenelg are coming off a solid win over Sturt. Will West put the loss (and fallout) behind them and win, or will Glenelg make it 3 wins in a row?

West will probably lose Fielke, Birss and Tuck.
Should gain Ferguson, Schmidt, Hartlett and possibly Porplyzia.

What is the problem with Tuck, R&B? Injured?
Will you be listening in on-line from overseas?
RPH are covering the game and will have it streamed via their website...

I think I'll be on a plane between Dubai and Milan
But I'm staying in Sirmione at Villa Grande Phil, so they'll probably have RPH online there
I'm hoping for text scores when I get off the plane.

the class difference between the top 4 teams (Norwood, North, West & Wwt) & the rest is fairly large & we'll see West win this comfortably, hopefully i'm wrong but that's the way i see it

West have the group with good experience together now playing a successful style and I think they will be far too good for a young Bays lineup that will get their chance to shine in coming seasons. West by 30+

Re: Round 6: West v Glenelg, Friday 3 May @ City Mazda Stadium
bar for 2 late goals i was proven right
while we tried hard we were simply outclassed, it was a mens v boys match, Button turning into a goal sneak
what about the 3 great marks in the last term ? with the last one being as good as any of the great marks we've seen over the years.....if someone can put a link up of the vision of Silverlocks mark i think everyone would enjoy it, simply fantastic
Mr. Davenport, you never ever abuse team mates the way you did tonight, it was simply disgusting especially the abuse McInerney got, while you do try you make more mistakes than he does, & are a selfish player, you only passed to Hooper late in the game when i yelled out you were selfish by not kicking to Hooper when he was by himself in the forward pocket & kicked to him when under pressure, if i was coach you'd be playing reserves in the next game

Looking at this mark reminds me of the way Bayman used to play football
Bayman still has the sprigg marks in his back to prove it

Bayman and Scrunch - interested on your opinions of Hender.
Here are mine from limited time I have seen him - perhaps I am out of order?
Exceptional talent, superb kick, slightly selfish. Runs forward hard with very good pace and excellent goal sense BUT doesn't work back. Little defensive attributes and has far too much run in his legs late in the game which tells me he bludges. Could be anything but needs a rocket

Wolves I agree with most if not all of that assessment. I think by Sanfl standard he is an exceptional talent but needs a bit less fluff and more substance to his game. Particularly when the Bays aren't in possession. However I think there has been some signs at times this season that perhaps that maturity isn't far away.

Hender gave a massive spray to one of his team mates in the third quarter which wasn't called for. There was a turnover to West but Hender abused his team mate even though it was himself who didn't work hard enough.

Having a look at the final scoreline, some of you might be interested in this particular match, exactly 14 years and 2 days before this one:
Round 6 1999
Glenelg 2.1 12.1 14.6 18.7 (115)
West 4.1 6.1 9.3 10.5 (65)
Lameroo, 1223
Glenelg: Liptak 4.1, Cook 4.0, Hele, McEntee 2.1, Grenvold 2.0, Byrne 1.1, Feddema, Higgins, Jameson 1.0, Chigwidden 0.1, Rushed 0.2.
West: Mellor 3.2, A.Richardson 2.2, Myles 2.1, Connell, Dempsey, Jones 1.0.

last year yes, this year NO...just go back to the Central match & you'd find out that Hender twice chased down Central players when running into an open goal in the last term & caught them holding the ball & these two tackles won Glenelg the match, he still does have a brain fade but has more upside to it, i know he is 'chatty' on field but haven't heard him 'abuse' team mates however Davenport does & while he works hard his skills & thought process are similar to a reserve grade player, it was a disgrace what he (Davenport) said to McInerney

Great effort by the Bloods to bounce back from the loss on Anzac Day.
One thing that I haven't been able to find out about is WHY did Westies wear there clash strip at a home game ? Why weren't glenelg wearing theres ?
