Brad Symes (Central District)

Who will win the Magarey Medal (not from Central)?
‘’I would have to say Chris Schmidt from Westies. He’s a good mate of mine and he obviously came very close last year.’’

Who will win the Ken Farmer Medal (not from Central)?
‘’I might go out on a limb and say Brett Ebert from the Magpies. Hopefully he plays most of his footy at the Power but if he doesn’t, he’s the type of guy who can come back and kick a bag in the SANFL. Even if he played 10 games, he would be half a chance.’’

Which other four clubs will play finals?
‘’Norwood will be good again, Westies have a similar group to last year so they will be around the mark. From what I hear, Port Maggies are lining up well so they might sneak in for the first time in a while and it might be a bit of a raffle for that last spot I reckon.

Who should be the state captain (not from Central)?
‘’If they looked past Thommo, which would be a very tough call, I would have to say Jimmy Meiklejohn. He’s a good bloke and has some good leadership skills. The guys I do know at Port reckon he’s had a good couple of years and they love him out on the track there so I would be more than happy to play under big Jimmy.’’

Where is your most feared away venue and why?
‘’Probably down at Hickinbotham (Noarlunga). My biggest fear is running out of petrol and not being able to get to the game. That would have to be my No.1 fear.’’


Ty Allen (Glenelg)

Who will win the Magarey Medal (not from Glenelg)?
‘’It might be a bit of a smoky but I think it will be Sam Gray from Port.’’

Who will win the Ken Farmer Medal (not from Glenelg)?
‘’I think Matthew Duldig from Sturt.’’

Which other four clubs will play finals?
‘’Eagles, Central, Norwood and North.’’

Who should be the state captain (not from Glenelg)?
‘’I think big James Meiklejohn from Port, he’s a big man and would be good in the role.’’

Where is your most feared away venue and why?
‘’Would have to be Noarlunga. We don’t win there too often and it’s always cold.’’


Greg Gallman (North Adelaide)

Who will win the Magarey Medal (not from North)?
‘’I reckon we might get a repeat as Brad Symes is looking good again for another tilt at that one.’’

Who will win the Ken Farmer Medal (not from North)?
‘’I reckon Michael Wundke is in for another good shot at it. He’s a former team-mate of mine and he usually performs well against us.’’

Which other four clubs will play finals?
‘’I think you can safely put Norwood up there. West Adelaide, Central and the Eagles will also make it.’’

Who should be the state captain (not from North)?
‘’Jimmy Meiklejohn's a big imposing figure and you like to see that as skipper of the state side so I will go for him.’’

Where is your most feared away venue and why?
‘’Definitely going down to Noarlunga. It’s cold, windy and a long drive so if you don’t win it’s an even longer drive home.’’


Kieran McGuinness (Norwood)

Who will win the Magarey Medal (not from Norwood)?
‘’There’s quite a few quality midfielders in the competition but I really like (Nick) Liddle. He’s the pick of the midfielders. Symes is going to be hard to beat and so is Liddle’s team-mate in Joel Cross but I think if I had to pick it would be Liddle.

Who will win the Ken Farmer Medal (not from Norwood)?
‘’I think South Adelaide has a couple of guys up forward who are fairly handy. Wundke is capable but I think (Brett) Eddy who has come across from the VFL is pretty good as well. They’ve certainly got some firepower up front.’’

Which other four clubs will play finals?
‘’It’s always hard to go past Central. They seem to be there at the business end fairly regularly. I would also say the Eagles, South will improve a bit and West Adelaide is the other one. They (West) are a fairly reasonable team so they will be there as well.’’

Who should be the state captain (not from Norwood)?
‘’I’m a huge fan of Paul Thomas. I think he’s been the best player in the competition for the last four or five years if not more. I also really like Luke Powell from the Eagles, he’s a terrific leader, good player and a really good fella.’’

Where is your most feared away venue and why?
‘’I remember in my first year in 2007, we went up to Central (Elizabeth) and lost by 157 points. I don’t know if I’ve quite got over that. I would say there because it’s always hard to win even if your side is in really good form. And they (Central) are always a really good side wherever you play them but up there it’s even a little bit more difficult.’’


James Meiklejohn (Port Adelaide)

Who will win the Magarey Medal (not from Port)?
‘’Nick Liddle as he’s been around the mark for a few years now.’’

Who will win the Ken Farmer Medal (not from Port)?
‘’Michael Wundke, he’s won it before and he will bounce back after not winning it last year.’’

Which other four clubs will play finals?
‘’Obviously Norwood. I think North will be there, the Eagles and South.’’

Who should be the state captain (not from Port)?
‘’I would choose Luke Powell from the Eagles.’’

Where is your most feared away venue and why?
‘’Probably The Parade as it hasn’t been a happy hunting ground for us. It’s always a tough game out there with the size of the crowd.’’


Josh Thewlis (South Adelaide)

Who will win the Magarey Medal (not from South)?
‘’I reckon you have to have a good look at James Boyd or Symesy again. Both are good ball-winners and pretty consistent footballers too.’’

Who will win the Ken Farmer Medal (not from South)?
‘’I’m going to have to say Adam Grocke (Eagles). He had a bit of a down year last year but I think he will bounce back and have a pretty good year.’’

Which other four clubs will play finals?
‘’I don’t think you can go past Central and Norwood, they are both really consistent teams. I think North Adelaide have recruited well so I expect them to be up there and maybe Port if they can find some consistency.’’

Who should be the state captain (not from South)?
‘’I would say Paul Thomas. He did last year and he’s a really consistent footballer.’’

Where is your most feared away venue and why?
‘’I would say Central (Elizabeth). We won out there in a trial match this year but we haven’t won out there the whole time I’ve been at South (since 2006).’’


Michael Coad (Sturt)

Who will win the Magarey Medal (not from Sturt)?
‘’I reckon a bloke I played a little bit of footy with (at the Gold Coast) in Hayden Jolly at the Bays. He gets plenty of the ball so I reckon he will go all right.’’

Who will win the Ken Farmer Medal (not from Sturt)?
‘’I reckon Michael Wundke from the Panthers. I saw a bit of him last year and he looks pretty good.’’

Which other four clubs will play finals?
‘’I think you would have to say Norwood. I think Central will be good again even though they’ve lost a few players. The Eagles and I think North will scrape in there as well.’’

Who should be the state captain (not from Sturt)?
‘’Big Jimmy Meiklejohn I reckon. He’s a big boy and he goes all right.’’

Where is your most feared away venue and why?
‘’I think it’s been tough for us to win out at Elizabeth. When I was at the club last it was always tough (to win)and it’s such a big ground as well.’’


Ryan Ferguson (West Adelaide)

Who will win the Magarey Medal (not from West)?
‘’Nick Murphy from South Adelaide. He’s been travelling well and is a player on the rise. Rather than go with the obvious choice in Symesy I will go with Nick Murphy.’’

Who will win the Ken Farmer Medal (not from West)?
‘’For the goalkicking I would go with a stay-at-home forward in Matty Duldig (Sturt). He will play strong from the square and he should be there all year so he will have a good chance to kick lots of goals.’’

Which other four clubs will play finals?
‘’I have to go with some obvious ones here. Norwood will be up there so will Central as I wouldn’t write them off. South could be on the rise and I would go with the Eagles bouncing back for the other spot.’’

Who should be the state captain (not from West)?
‘’I always like to have a big presence in there for the state captain so I would go for James Meiklejohn from Port.’’

Where is your most feared away venue and why?
‘’ I would say Glenelg only because I haven’t won there yet in my time at West so I would like to tick that one off this year.’’


Luke Powell (Woodville-West Torrens)

Who will win the Magarey Medal (not from the Eagles)?
‘’I think over the last couple of years Nick Liddle has proven himself. It will be a battle between him and Brad Symes from Central as they are both consistent players and strong ball-winners.’’

Who will win the Ken Farmer Medal (not from Eagles)?
‘’It’s an interesting one. I think there’s a good mix of forwards around the competition but if I had to say someone it would be Ben Warren from Norwood.’’

Which other four clubs will play finals?
‘’Norwood will definitely be there and I think Central will be around the mark but from there it could be South, West and Port to battle it out I reckon.’’

Who should be the state captain (not from Eagles)?
‘’Paul Thomas had it last year and he did a great job. He’s played a fair bit of state footy so there’s no reason why he shouldn’t continue.’’

Where is your most feared away venue and why?
‘’Probably Central (Elizabeth) for a night game. Even just the drive out there and the drive home. We’ve always battled out there so that would be the one.’’

I'll have a go I suppose. Like others, I have no idea about the relative strengths of several clubs, plus there's AFL intrusion, injuries to key players, etc. Who knows
