What songs did your parents play endlessly in your household when you were growing up?

One really sticks out for me - Lesley Gore - it's my party.
The fact that her name and song are embeded forever in my brain says something I think.

And I remember the other one too - Judy's turn to cry.

My mum had the old LP on 'auto play' I reckon Laughing

This one will surprise absulutely nobody who knows me well.

From the earliest I can remember, my parents played Little River Band on the stereo all the time. They had all of them from the moment each one was released and all were on very heavy rotation growing up.

It probably explains the thing I do on my way to any game I am doing for either TV or radio - have LRB's "Definitive Collection" playing in the car. Sort of a pre-game tradition for me.

Dad was a very big Fleetwood Mac fan, "Rumours" and "Tusk" were on high rotation also.

A few...

Neil Diamond was on high rotation on the Rotel record player.

Also Richard Clayterman , Jean Michael Jarre, Barberra Steisand, The Ventures.

Linda Ronstats "Blue Bayou" is special to me .....first song I remember being played on a juke box as a kid in the Northern Territory. I was about 4 years old. Love that song still too this day . Smile

Both my parents have a good variety of musical tastes from Heavy Metal to Opera to Big Swing Bands to Pop and everything in between.

I'd have to say Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow and Led Zeppelin was played a lot when dad was in charge of the stereo, and whilst mum listened to a lot of Italian songs, Barbara Streisand and Cher, I was impressed that she was a pretty big Cat Stevens fan too.

I think having this sort of variety and being in a band myself for a time, it makes it hard to really dislike any song, as IMO each have their merits.

My mum used to flog Neil Diamond & Elvis Presley. She used to crank them up when she was in cleaning mode, full bore.

I probably still know all of Neil Diamond's songs off by heart.
