Out of respect to the family, many of whom are still yet to be officially informed, we would ask that the player is not named at this point in time until official confirmation is received.

One local media outlet chose to breach this unfortunately.

I don't know if this is 100% correct, but I heard the player's girlfriend didn't know about it until some journalist called her asking for a comment.

I had little enough respect for the media prior to this, and wouldn't be the least surprised if it's true.
