I would think this is the first time I can remember a player challenging a reprimand penalty.
I think Scott is adamant he isn't guilty of the charge.

Not according to the player I was talking to who was hit

Oh, well, Scott must be guilty then
We'd better take his word for it rather than Scott's.

Seriously R&B - what goes on on the football field is something we'll never know. But Thompson admitted he hit Bricknell after being hit first and then they wrestled on the ground. He couldn't work out why he got the free either. He is also challenging the 1 game penalty. This points system and the "guilty until proven innocent" AFL way is a blot on our game like everything the AFL touch.

I suspect it was just another over-reaction by precious umpires.

Yes, MP, seriously, I agree with you.
I spoke to Scott straight after the game and he was adamant he hadn't hit Thompson. His reaction at the time when the free went against him is consistent with that.
I doubt that Scott has ever been reported in his career, which goes back to juniors at Westies.
I've actually attended the Tribunal and have full faith in their judgement, whatever it is.

No luck for the Bloods or Roosters with their appeals at the tribunal this evening...

West's Joel Tippett - 1 week suspension
North's Kriston Thompson - 2 week suspension

Re: Tribunal Tonight
Interesting concept this reporting programme - you are automatically guilty when cited. Then when you believe that you don't have a case to answer according to you and your club's interpretation of the rules, and the tribunal doesn't agree with you, you become more guilty. Hmm!

it all falls into line with the afl dictatorship system. no one dares speak out against the league, whether it be challenging a MRP decision, or commenting on umpiring. it is all taboo and thy shall be punished if you question them...

I think many have succeeded in challenging decisions, though?

I'm not saying he should have been, because it was too far away from me, but I thought Jeremy Clayton had been reported. Obviously not.

He was reported on the night (at the half time break, thye umpires went to Jeremy to advise him he had gone in the book) but it must have been thrown out during the week as there was nothing reported back to the public or media from the tribunal in regards to his caseAdelaide Hawk wrote:I'm not saying he should have been, because it was too far away from me, but I thought Jeremy Clayton had been reported. Re: Tribunal Tonight
I'm wondering about some of these "reportable incidents". Over the past couple of years, I've seen some of the softest things going on report and I think it's time we really started to harden up a little.
Look at what goes on in the AFL these days. This week, I've seen incidents questioned in the media about legitimate body clashes, normal tackles, etc, and so glad to see (for a change) that these incidents weren't raised by the MRP.
I'd really like to see a player negligent in their action before even questioning it, but it seems these days, if a player is injured, someone has to be answerable to some kind of charge.
They slow things down looking for anything that will support the charge. Someone really needs to tell these people the game isn't played in slow motion, it's full speed, and that's what we should judge it on.
It really is becoming a farce.
