North returned to earth with a thud with a poor loss over the lowly Eagles, while Sturt also returned to earth with a thud with a poor loss over South. Which side will return to the winners circle this week?

You would think North will react to last week's game and get the points at home.

I think that it depends on the fitness of a number of players. Currie and Miles are very important for North and we all know Allan's importance (he hasn't been able to train for over a month). The good sides can cover injury. The mid range teams like North always struggle. There just is not the depth of good players.

Interesting point about Allan, rig.

You're right about depth. West found that out after its win at Prospect last year. Some incorrectly blamed the Foxtel Cup, but it was losing 8 players after that win and not having the depth to replace them.

As for Sturt, I think their fortunes seem to be in direct proportion to Brodie Martin's availablity for them.

I'm going to have to back North at home by 3-4 goals.

The up and down season continues...

Sturt were pretty good today, obviously helped by an influx of returning first pick players.

North, in the last half, were as poor a team as I've seen this year (and I've seen some crap performances by Sturt!).

Unbelievable how close this season is.

CC, what were the main reasons for Sturt's win?

I also think you'd be a fair chance of beating Norwood at Unley next week.

North's lack of interest certainly had a fair bearing on the score line. The inclusion of Sheedy, Jenkins, Thompson and Duldig helped too.

I thought that McIntyre, McLeay, Anderson and Jenkins would be in our best. Kurtze and Riley were pretty good as well.

Great to get a % boosting win, but I'm not prepared to get too excited, purely based on how poor our opposition was today...

I'm certainly not about to make any rash predictions for my beloved double blues, either against Norwood this week, nor the rest of the season. To paraphrase the old nursery rhyme about the little girl with the curl in the middle of her forehead. When we're good we're very good but when we're not we're pretty ordinary to say the least. But that's probably what we have to expect at this stage of our rebuilding and hopefully we'll have more of the former and less of the latter as time goes on. As I said I'm not making predictions, but with 4/6 from our first 10, if we can make that 6/4 over the second half, who knows? It's a pretty even competition and most sides are up and down. As others have observed, we're too dependent on a group of key players, several of them likely to be lost to the AFL at any moment. We need a wider spread of contributors, but I think most sides are in the same boat. That seemed to be an issue for North on Saturday, as it was for Sturt the previous week. Being a footy supporter is nothing if not frustrating. Rolling Eyes
