Re: Central V South
In a sense of deja vu, South travel to Elizabeth to face a Centrals side coming off a loss to West Adelaide at Richmond.
So far, Centrals and South have had very poor seasons. South are 1-2 after losing 2 games they should have won at home and a win over a very ordinary North Adelaide side. Centrals have fared worse, with 2 embarrassing losses to Norwood and West Adelaide.
The major issue for Centrals is attack. It is non-existent, evidenced by the fact they've kicked more than 1 goal in 2 quarters this season. Injuries or not that is simply pathetic for last years Grand Finalists. Not only that, forward attack appears to be bomb it inside 50 to an opposition player, and when Centrals do take possession inside 50, they chip it around looking for the perfect shot rather than just have a shot at goal, often resulting in easy turnovers.
As bad as Centrals have been this year, South's record over Centrals in recent years is far worse. Since 1999, South have had just 3 wins over Centrals - and all of them were at Noarlunga (2000, 2005, 2006), with South last win at Elizbaeth way back in 1999, and South's last win at all over Centrals way back in 2006.
Having said that, now is a golden opportunity for South to notch up a rare win against Centrals if Centrals continue to play as badly as they have this season.
This is a big test for Centrals. Can they rebound from two pathetic games and, like the corresponding game last year, re-stamp their authority with a big win (or any win for that matter), or will they continue their dysfunctional efforts on-field and allow South in another ugly encounter.
As much as I actually want to tip South in this game, I can't see Centrals a) dropping 3 in a row and b) dropping 2 home matches in a row, and they will do enough to win, but it will be ugly...very ugly.

in modern footy there's one thing worse than playing Central after a loss & that's facing them after two losses in a row, Central easily very easily

The doggies are suffering with injuries and lack any forward potency. If it's the same side as last week South will inflict Centrals 1st 3 straight losses on the bounce sequence since 1066.

Speaking of 3 straight losses, when was the last time centrals managed it?

If Central manage 3 losses in a row, could we other supporters possibly have a commemorative t-shirt or other memorabilia?

As much as I would love to see South win it, Centrals record over the last 10+ seasons speaks for itself, South have dropped home games against West and Sturt and need to win games along those lines if we are to be taken seriously against the likes of Central or Norwood.

How cruel is fate ‘eh? The Panthers copping the winless Bulldogs at home, desperate and hurting.
Everyone except Central fans are hoping they can do it, but unless all the Gods there have ever been get behind the Southerners,
it ain’t gonna happen. I’d like the winner to be blue and white, but reckon there’ll be some red in there this time.

2006 is the last time we lost 3 in a row. 1990 is the last time we lost the first 3 in a row:Bobbafet wrote:Speaking of 3 straight losses, when was the last time centrals managed it?

Ohhh who to pick this game. South have not been the greatest and the Dogs are struggling. The dogs are home should win but South could cause an upset in this game. I will tip the dogs to bounce back and have them win by 2 goals.

Central will win this one by about five goals in my opinion. They might not be at their but will do enough.

Centrals are on a record 14-game winning streak v South. Will that record be extended tomorrow?
South has not beaten Centrals since 2006 - the last time we had a major injury crisis.
South has not won at Elizabeth Oval since 1999.
I'm tipping South by 2 goals. And if that's not enough, I'm putting $10 on South @ 2.75. All of that should get the Dogs over the line.

If McKernan was playing, I would just about have gone for the Panthers here.
You'd think Central would win, but their fans will be looking for signs of the feared Central teams we all know.
Can they deleiver that, or are they struggling until some of their key forwards are available and in form.
And will that be too late?

If you need another avatar, here's my favourite picture of Mike Rann:
Is that water really coming from the new desalination plant? Looks like somebody's garden hose to me.
Anyway, Rann declared the water to be delicious.
