Vale Mark Beswick
Saddened to hear of his recent passing. Fair to say we crossed swords, but he was an outstanding contributor to SANFL in general and his beloved WAFC and both are poorer for his absence. Thoughts with his family and friends.

Re: Vale Mark Beswick
Thanks Scrunch, very much appreciated.
Personally and for all at Westies, we're devastated.
The following is on the West Adelaide website:
It is with great sadness that the West Adelaide Football Club advises members and the wider SANFL community of the passing of Life Member, Mark Beswick.
Mark’s passion for, and commitment to, SANFL football was all-encompassing. Always a passionate Blood’s supporter, Mark was also the official SANFL historian. His unparalleled work for our club and the SANFL as historian and statistical guru was invaluable and his enthusiasm and love of our game was always obvious in the way he approached everything he did.
His father Kevin played over 100 games for West Adelaide and captained the club.
.
It is not possible to do justice to the contribution Mark has given to West Adelaide. In so many ways, Mark was the first port of call for so many of the answers football clubs need on a day-to-day basis and he always responded with enthusiasm, accuracy and pride. The SANFL states “his contribution to the history of the competition through his database collection and his commitment to its protection and succession will have a lasting benefit to the League”.
More than statistics and history, though, we knew Mark as a good man. He was totally respected and always brought a smile and a passion, even at the most difficult of times. Along with his wife Christine, Mark attended our Season Launch only little more than a week ago. He was also instrumental in assisting with the selection of our Team of the Centuries and very much wanted to attend the announcement. We will all attend for him.
He will be sadly missed and our thoughts are very much with Christine, his children and family.

Least I could do mate, sounds like a great bloke (Im very close mates with a member of his family who is naturally doing it tough) - Wish I'd had the fortune of meeting him.

I was honoured to have Mark include my Grand Mother and my Father's Names in the History of the West Adelaide Football Club as the Land on which the Club was built was owned by both of them. I send my Condolences to The West Adelaide Football Club and to Mark's Family at this sad Time

Very sad to hear of Mark's passing.
I met him a number of times and he taught my kids.
Coached one of them in junior footy.
Was a passionate Westies man and footy follower in general.
Sincere sympathies to his family.
