Glenelg Coach
There was a fair bit of noise about the Bay's coach last week, but I don't think anything concrete.
All speculation?

If he leaves he leaves, but he will not be sacked, has done a fair job considering where we were when he took over very late a few summers ago

Speculation growing that he is looking at career progression into an AFL Development role, perhaps with his former club, Port Adelaide.

Re: Glenelg Coach
I thought Lokan has come from a teaching background, so a development role probably works into that with his more recent coaching.
He's done a fair job at the Bays, the last 2 weeks of the season notwithstanding. He would have been pretty disappointed with that after the form they's shown.
Would a club like Collingwood be interested since he played with them? Not sure if they will have any spare roles even after letting some of their coaching panel go.
Being a bit naughty, what about a swapsie? Lokan to Port, Cornes to the Bays.

not sure about a swap per se, but a few have mentioned the thought of luring Chad back & if he did he wouldn't have to drive to training

How would Bays supporters feel about that?
Is he still regarded as Bay man (sorry pun Bayman).

Re: Glenelg Coach
According to someone who came into work this afternoon, Lokan has quit citing a lack of money to recruit players.....I presume the Port job came through
Off course this is if what I was told is true

Rumour is Scott Thompson is most likely, I’d go for Brett Backwell myself

On the Port front, did Chad get the boot, or is he doing something with the AFL side?
They don't seem to last long.

Re: Glenelg Coach
Just speculating, why is a sub-serviant Port Magpies gig better than "own boss" Bays gig?
$$ maybe?
$$ maybe?

Re: Glenelg Coach
Yes I guess so. But Port / Crows sanfl coaches tend not to last long.
Money ain't everything.
Still it was not unexpected and was speculated weeks ago.
Why do you like Backwell, Bayman?
What puts Backwell ahead of Thompson, Edwards or Surjan with AFL experience?

I don’t know the figures but Port appear to go through more coaches than Adelaide in the SANFL . I could be wrong just seems there’s always more noise from Alberton over someone farting lol than anyone else joking about the farts Port fans

Re: Glenelg Coach
Chambo, my reasoning is the others would have higher ambitions, not sure Backwell would, Glenelg need stability which is the main reason Lokan had a contract extension during his tenure in the first place, if Glenelg signed a “big name for 2018-19 & he left (like Hocking at South) what’s the point? Backwell spent time under Brad Gotch who I rate highly
