are the mainly lower scores in recent Shield matches because all the games are using the Duke ball ? they're obviously using the Duke ball in preparation for the upcoming tour of England......which in my opinion is a very smart move but why has it taken over 100 years to work that out ?

so which ball is better ?

should cricket have the same make of ball all over the world ?

to be honest, I don't know what the actual difference is.
Are there any structural differences?

There are opinions that the Duke ball swings more than the ones used in Australia
Saw some of the SA V WA game, and the Duke ball 'seemed'' to be swinging more than what a Kookaburra would
Buts thats only from parts of 1 game

In answer to Baymans question
Im of the opinion that the same type of ball should be used world wide

I have no problems with using different balls in different countries, so long as the quality is consistent.

There has been an opinion that the Duke swings more then the Kookaburra for years. I vaguely recall that there was a suggestion it is to do with the number of pieces or sewing seams they use but I'm not sure.

i've hear today that the Duke ball is getting used in the second half of the Sheffield Shield season, obviously in preparation of the tour of England later in the year, yet the test team is in South Africa shortly......i wonder whether the Kookaburra ball may go like the 8 ball over & the do do did
