I think you are talking about the men's SANFL League fixture, Bayman.
Scott is referring to the Women's fixture, mate.

Is the Power Indigenous Academy about to claim another player from a SANFL club for the Magpies?

Can't see how that could be. There are new rules to stop poaching like that.
Think ettg might be wrong on this one.
Izak will be with West.

it doesn't matter who it is, it is wrong & especially wrong when we're in January, i'm convinced given who they've already rookie listed & without disrespecting them, that they (Port) are intending to win an sanfl premiership to appease the old time Port supporters......don't worry because as soon as the bookies go up i'll be launching into that

So what sort of competition does that leave us with, when it has clubs who aren't trying to win the premiership?

Actually agree. Really doubt port would use AFL rookie picks solely to win a ressie flag. They must rate them potential AFL standard or needs type to draft them ahead of anyone else in the country. Obviously irra is a category draft pick but still..

Are you saying they picked these guys up purely for the SANFL team ? I actually had never looked at it that way . I wouldn't think so .
Of course Port picked them up for their SANFL team !

Re: Rumour File
my opinion & off hand i don't know all the players they took, however the 3 that come to mind are the two mentioned & young Jarrod Leinert, my summary is young Jarrod fair enough & he deserves a chance at AFL level & most likely spend the year in the SANFL, however i'm pretty sure Brett Eddy is purely there at best as insurance if one of the stars go down (not a stupid idea) but most likely he'll be in the SANFL team & Irra while is speed is dazzling i don't think he's done enough over the last couple of seasons to deserve a chance, this is why i think that they are there to bolster up the body strength of the SANFL team
btw i hope they prove me wrong & make the AFL team on a consistent basis , that is part of the reason i'm going to have a crack at the premiership odds when they go up....time will tell

Whether it is a rort or not is hard to conclusively say.
But it is part of an extremely flawed system.
If we just grin and bear it, nothing will change.
I still think it is important to call the sanfl on these matters and where necessary, the 8 clubs insist on review.
I would think there is enough unevenness to debate for a full 12 months.

Re: Rumour File
Agree Chambo about the highly flawed system. I do wonder if port really care or prioritise a sanfl flag whatsoever as opposed to the AFL side. Also if Eddy and Irra were recruited solely for a sanfl flag, then playing second fiddle and out of position (basically a professional top up player) behind AFL listed players returning from injury or draftees requiring game time would be a step down career wise than playing for an actual club and actual flag. Yet another reason to argue against a 140 year old proud comp hosting reserves clubs with labour hire top ups. Not meaning to moan but devastated like many that even hated port Adelaide exist in this state in the sanfl.

Re: Rumour File
I think Bayman is pretty right.
I would add that in any dealings with Adelaide or Port, Adelaide are usually reasonable to deal with. Port tend to look for any loophole to get what they want.
I'm not passing judgement on whether that's good or bad from an AFL club's point of view.

Is there a surprising change in broadcasting arrangements for 2017 that will change the landscape significantly?
