Re: SANFL 19OO-1959
I guess this might suggest that there is probably not much around.

I have done a lot of checking and as far as I can ascertain there is vision of the 1949, 1950, 1954 and every Grand Final from 1958 onwards.

That would make a great DVD. Hopefully somebody puts it together one day.

19/5/1928
Norwood v West Torrens
Adelaide Oval
NW 0-5...5-8...8-9...11-13 [79]
WT 2-4...3-7...4-8.....5-12 [42]
During the half time break there was a naming of a western grandstand
A bronze tablet to commemorate the occasion was made on that day
This stand became the George Giffen Stand
This was done some 50 years after Giffen kicked Norwoods first goal in Norwoods inaugural 1878 season
Clem Hill ,star left handed cricket batsman , who played for South Adelaide , is said to have been the main man in getting the naming of the Giffen Stand
George Giffen had passed away the previous year in 1927
That stand was demolished in recent times
The Giffen stand is no more
The bronze tablet now superceded by a bronze statue of George Giffen , located behind the Western stands

Which is right next to the door to the rooms used by West cor the 2015 premiership, I think.

Re: SANFL 19OO-1959
This is something I came across in a 1967 Budget, looking back at season 1950. I knew of the ructions surrounding Kerley's exit in the 60s, but wasn't aware of this.
"However the loss of the Taylor brothers, Fos Williams, centreman Gar Burkett (to Broken Hill) and Reg Zeuner (to Perth) seriously weakened West Adelaide, who missed the four for the first time in five years.
A political upheaval in the West camp saw the club make a change in coaches before the season opened.
Soon after the end of the 1949 season Brian Faehse was appointed as the club's captain-coach for 1950 by the club's management committee.
However the committee resigned en masse at the club's annual meeting early in 1950 and the incoming committee deposed Faehse and installed Jack Broadstock, who had transferred to West Torrens in 1949 as playing coach."

Re: SANFL 19OO-1959
16/7/1933
Round 11
Prospect Oval
NA 4-5...7-6...11-11...12-13
WA 1-0..7-6....8-8.......8-12
North Adelaide were top of the ladder for this clash with West Adelaide
West Adelaide were in fourth position, trying to hold off Port, Glenelg and West Torrens for a finals spot
North Adelaide ended up the 1933 Minor Premier
West Adelaide , won their last 3 matches but narrowly missed the finals, finishing 5th
North Adelaide lost to Sturt in the Grand Final
It certainly was a historical match[if this is the correct match]
At quarter time North had to replace an injured Ken Farmer
The significance is that Ken Farmer for the only time of his career had not scored a goal in his 224 SANFL games
Theres no doubt he would have scored a goal had he played the game out
The amazing thing about Ken Farmer is that he scored at least a goal in all his completed SANFL matches
Can Ken Farmer be considered the greatest performed player in the SANFL ?

Quite possibly. As there are very few people around who say him play we have to rely on records and on that basis he is up there with the best to ever pull a pair of boots. His record is phenomenal.

Re: SANFL 19OO-1959
There was an opportunity in the 2018 Grand Final for some NW players to join an elite group
Jace Bode
Brady Dawe
Ben Jeffries
Simon Phillips
Had NW defeated NA in the 2018 G/F , those 4 players would have played in 4 NW G/F wins
The others who have played in 4 NW G/F wins are
Walter Scott
Jack Oatey
Phil Gallagher
Jim Michalanney
NA continue their good record against NW in SANFL finals
NA lead 13-6 with one drawn game in all finals
NA lead 4-2 in Grand Final head to head wins

Heres the Glenelg scores
1950...2-2...5-5...6-7...8-11
