Magarey Medal returns to live television
The 2015 Magarey Medal and Hall Of Fame induction to return to television for the first time since 2007.
South Australian football’s night of nights will be showcased on commercial television for the first time since 2007, with Channel Seven to screen a live telecast of this year’s Magarey Medal and SA Football Hall of Fame induction ceremony.
The SANFL’s modern-day greats will have the opportunity to rub shoulders with SA’s finest footballers as five champions are inducted to the South Australian Football Hall of Fame.
On Monday September 7, as many as 700 guests will gather in the Adelaide’s Oval’s Magarey Room to honour the 2015 Magarey Medallist as well as hearing from the latest heroes joining the likes of Barrie Robran and Russell Ebert in the SA Football Hall of Fame.
‘’The SANFL is delighted to have this year’s Magarey Medal and SA Football Hall of Fame induction ceremony televised live on Channel Seven,’’ SANFL chief executive Jake Parkinson said.
‘’It will mark the first time the nation’s oldest individual football prize is awarded, on the same night five of South Australia’s greats are inducted into the SA Football Hall of Fame.
‘’Seeing the greatest footballers from this state, from generations past and present, in the same room will make for a memorable occasion all South Australians can cherish.’’
Each of the SA Football Hall of Fame inductees will be featured on Channel Seven’s one-hour telecast, along with the Magarey Medal presentation, which will be aired live on 7mate.
‘’The Magarey Medal is Australia’s oldest and most treasured sporting awards and we are thrilled to be able to bring it to the South Australian football public,’’ Channel Seven General Manager Tony Davison said.
Live commentary, photographs and a wrap of the red carpet arrivals will also be shared via the SANFL’s various social media platforms, including Facebook and Twitter.

great news, just what the league needs, would probably be hosted by mark soderstrom, who has done a great job overall of all things sanfl. more proof that moving to seven was the right thing to do.
