The government are saying 'algae' bloom - I see some of the public are saying 'sure, sure' - there's more to this.
Does make you wonder what's caused it.
I was in shock with all the weed along the sides of the pat .Fish appeared to be ok .

Well I haven't bothered you guys lately but he is my PB Bream on a lure from yesterday!! A 37cm Bream
Lets say he or she was unlucky to get landed , I was standing on a tall rock wall .I know how I landed it just don't know how it didn't fall off lmao. And the hook on the cheapo lure from ray and annes was like a politician bent when I got it free .
Loved every minute of its capture pity today wasn't as good

Hi Mickyj, that is a real nice Bream.
Which SP did you use to catch it.
I went out near the Largs Bay jetty a couple of weeks back, caught our 40 Blueys and a couple of reasonable (legal) Flathead, then the shitties moved into the area, we knew it was time to go home.
What have you been catching lately? I just came back from Pt Turton, 2 days on the water we got 60 Garfish, 17 KGW, 5 Squid, 11 Tommies and a bluey who just got entangled up in the hook.

wont bore everyone to much
Yep got to the Pat and the wind was a blowing . Thought is it to rough ?
ST's were jumping so that gave me some hope !!
I wont bore everyone to long . Took me a short time(felt like an hour) landed a tiny ST . Nothing then nothing kept slowing down the retrieve and finally(felt like two hours had gone by they hadn't) BANG!!
Yep another 40 cm jewie
And yes I did have the drag too lose kept tightening it and I love the run in these things god I do !! And when they come up to the top love it !! This one is so pretty
Anyway when they that lure stopped getting attention I swapped to the one I bought yesterday landed a small bream on it !!
Final total
6 ST's on three different minnows
1 20cm bream
1 40cm jewie
And I cut the session short got learn to dress warmer on colder mornings . Still need a landing net lmao

Had a cracking day out in the old mans boat yesterday.
18 blueys ( full of meat and big ), 16 good sized tommies, 14 gar, 12 mackerel ( great crab bait ) and a few whiting.
Excellent day out off of Largs, Semaphore and out on the Norma for the gar and mackerel.

Re: Fishing
Recreational fishermen could be charged an anglers fee of about $30 per annum
The request by RecFish SA
The Government is considering the proposal
Later this year a decision to be made
Is this impost fair ?
Or is RecFish wanting to Wreckfishermen ?

obviously the Government has even less money than it pretends to have, watch speeding fines & the like go up.......................given that fishing is classed as a sport, so perhaps ''fishing clubs'' will evolve & ''match fees'' eventuate

Re: Fishing
When I was up in Mildura 12 months or so ago you needed to buy a permit to fish in the Murray. A NSW thing as the river itself (water) is in NSW.
Ridiculous for a 'sometimes' fisherman like me.

Yep, if you own a boat, pay rego, insurance, hold a licence then you don't need a permit, IMO.
If you're a bloke/lass who untangles a K-Mart rod a couple of times a year to try and catch a squid while you're on holidays, you need one even less.
Bureaucracy at it's finest.
Meanwhile a bloke who can take 50,000 tonnes of crabs from the gulf is making squillions, damaging the sea bed and crab population, perhaps irreparably and they want $30 from Mum/Dad/Kids on the jetty.....

Snippets on the Proposal
Messenger Press 21/1
RecFish SA wants to charge anglers about $30 a year to help fund projects such as the construction of artificial reefs and jetty upgrades
A quote from a concerned resident:
" Do you think a young family will be prepared to pay a fee when they only fish once or twice a year ?"
This from a Development Recreational Fishing Committee representative :
" A lack of State Government funding for meant introducing a license fee was a necessary measure."
Another proposal to be ?:
As well as an annual licence, a 3 day pass would be available for $10
This from an industry person :
The State Government had allocated 3.25 million in the next 3 years for recreational fishing initiatives
Will this happen ? :
The Government will make a decision on the licenses later this year
My question
If this $30 fee comes into affect
How do they police it ?
How will ALL the public be aware ?
What would be the fine ?
What next , speed cameras on jetties , for walking too fast?

Spot on Booney... i'm off to Bamera with the family tomorrow, just for the day... do a little fishing, swimming etc around the lake, and these twits want to charge me for something i do once a year. And then i only catch European Carp anyway which is a pest in our Murray River water system. They should pay me for helping to eradicate these slimy suckers.

This is me.
As Scrappy says how are they going to police it anyway?
I doubt I'd bother even if they brought it in to be honest.

Will they open all the reservoirs like they do in the eastern states ?
As someone who fishes every sunday in warm weather and every day when im on holidays (if i dont go away ) and i dont fish off jetties whats in this fee for me !!
Believe me some officals will be out there watching when you wet a line . Mind you when you need a fish inspector cause someones taking undersized fish you CANNOT find one !!
On another note i hope the fish are biting Sunday in the Pat !! Got pissed off when they emptied the lake for that 30 yr rain that didnt come then filled the lake with storm water !!

Re: Fishing
I got 26 blue swimmers in 3 hours off Grange Jetty on Sunday morning from 6am to 9am with a 7:15 high tide. My mate got 24 on Saturday morning at the same spot, same time/tides.
My Dad got 20 in 50 minutes on Semaphore Jetty on Sunday morning, again at dawn on high tide.
If you've got nets, some fish heads and a few hours any jetty North of Henley ( and Henley itself ) are producing goods numbers of crabs at high tide. Incoming from the low tide is also working well if the early mornings don't suit.
