Centisle [4/1 fav] led, Ladys Way [20/1]was coming at it
Photo finish, developed print, after several minutes , Ladys Way was adjudged the winner

No BIG deal , just another race for most punters
But not for one punter
He had Centisle going in a super 6 bet
Had Centilse won the race he would have got the Super 6
His $32 investment would have been a winner if Centisle won the race
The unlucky punter had the only live winning unit in a $1,026,562 pool if Centisle got up
He had 2 runners in the last keg, the other ran 5th


FUNDaMENTALly there should be a winner in any bets placed on the tote
That no one collected, in a Million dollar pool,  does not make cents to sum punters

Then there are those who love Jackpots and a BIG pool for a decent collect , and dont mind the lot jackpotting

The TABs love Jackpots as they get ma$$ive re-investments which means they collect commissions, usually close to a fifth of the pot , and it makes cents to them

The question is
Should there be Jackpots or should all pools have a dividend on all races ?

first thing that should be amended is the shorties paying $1.00 for a win, you should not be in a position where you can not win but only lose on a race...........yes i know that people will say ''why would anyone back them that short ?" and i'd ask the same question but people do back them otherwise they wouldn't be paying $1.00

That $1-00 dividend  only applies to Unitab
Victorian and New South Wales TABs pay out a minimum $1-04
In the past they have had the occasional $1-00 div as well for whatever reasons

I agree the Unitab $1-00 dividend is FUNDaMENTALly a wrongism
However I take the good with the bad
Unitab has good fixed odds , compared to other agencies , especially local harness racing

For most it was the 25th win in a row for the mighty WI NX

This is how jockey Daniel Moor performed at Caulfield

Rode roughies at this stage without any success
There were 4 races left

That is a day to remember, riding the 4 legs of the TAB quaddies
The Unitab quaddie paid $89470.30 for the $1 unit

Daniel Moor was fined  for excessive whipping on Magnapal
That cost him $750 , which ends up a small price to pay for fame

The results were 4-5-3-6
RED ALTO won the race and the SP was $9-50 !

Pick 4 paid $4997.40 Ubet
Pool was $21547 or approximately $17238 with commissions taken out by Ubet[Ive calculated at 20%]
That means there was approximately $3-45 of winning units

5 CURDLED , which was close to midfield on the fence , made a run in the straight, ran out of room and was held up on the line and finished 7th
15 COOL DRAFTS , settled last, was wide in the run, flashed home late , for a black book eye catching 4th

So
CURDLED ran 7th
COOL DRAFTS ran 4th

The problem was that the wrong horse ends up running 4th after correct weight
The Ubet numbers of 8-13-4-5 should have been 8-13-4-15
Some lucky punters share the $17K+ pool
Some unlucky punters missed out

But all is not lost with some Ubet punters, the TAB will also pay out on 8-13-4-15 as well
That is a nice gesture by the TAB

There was 13 runners in that race
Only one runner was a grey horse, and it was 15 Cool Draft
