Adam Goodes high bump.
I'm a fan of Goodes. I think his game against Port here some years ago was one of the best individual games I've seen.
He's just hit Sellwood. A classic bump to the head, leaving the ground, with the ball gone.
The commentators are already trying to downplay it. It wasn't severe contact, but if Adam doesn't get a game, then there are different rules for different players.
Brian Taylor has just said "we don't think he's got anything to worry about".
A joke if that's so.

Haven't seen it, just got home from dinner but agree with all of that if he doesn't cop anything.
Re: Adam Goodes high bump.
Totally disagree. Going for the footy and nothing else, no injury has occurred, play on.
Was G Abblet treated differently also r&b, no mention of him.

Hardly going for the footy, mate. The ball had just gone, he jumped up and hit him in the head. The player went down.
Until tje last week or two, that was an automatic suspension.
Don't care about Ablett's, I was commenting on what I just saw.

That's the good thing about footy, some see things one way and some see things another way and I will agree to disagree.
He was a fraction late IMO and jumped to where the ball had just been tapped from by Sellwood.
His eyes were not on Sellwood and made accidental contact to his head with the lower part of his shoulder.
If a report is made of this it will not surprise me one bit with the way this game has become. There is no consistancy with reporting these days.

I suppose my point is that several players were rubbed out for ridiculous numbers of games when it was unavoidable contact.
As always, they now seem to have over-corrected and suddenly there seems to be no need to protect the head.
Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge fan of Goodes and he's a scrupulously fair player, so I have no problem if he gets off, but I suspect if it was a 'no-name' player, there would be a suspension for sure.

Re: Adam Goodes high bump.
is there two rules to every case ?
while i hardly watch AFL footy matches, i do see the shows during the week,
rule 1 big name players seem to be ''given the benefit of the doubt''
rule 2 if an ''average or young'' player gets reported or cited they seem to get pinged

From what I saw Goodes jumped because the ball was in the air.
When he wasn't going to get it, it looked like he almost turned to avoid contact.
If these sorts of things are going to get blokes games, then I am going to watch netball where there is much more contact.

No worries, Chambo.
I'd just like to see the lesser known players get the same consideration.

I agree. Not necessarily in relation to this incident because I didn't see it, but also with umpiring decisions and vote polling.

I didn't and haven't seen the incident either - but 'A Dad' did see it and did say that the correct decision was made.
