TV Coverage
If Channel 7 take over the Tv rights, I have a nightmare scenario,
And welcome to Channel 7's SANFL coverage and thanks to the SANFL for the million dollars.
Tonight's game is our Adelaide Crows versus.....hang on a moment.... ah, yes, West Adelaide. Goiod side, West, Mods and Rehnny played for them, they're the ones wearing the Essendon jumpers.
We'll be having an interview with Heath Younie about some of the Crows juniors and the injury status of Sam Jacobs after that ankle injury.
We'll have a camera in the Crow's rooms and we'll hear Heath's pre-match address. There'll be a special half-time interview with an ex-West Adelaide player, for some balance, so we'll look forward to a chat with Jason Porplyzia and his thoughts on the Crows big win yesterday against GWS.
Our after the game special voting on the game will give a 3-2-1 for the Crows State League Player of the Year and there'll be the usual Crows Goal of the Day and Crows Play of the Day.
...................................................
...and West kick it forward, a great chase by Kerridge, but it's marked by a West player who will shoot for goal. Good pressure there by Siggins, though, he's one to watch................
.......................
So that's our wrap for today, tune in next week for our blockbuster match, the Power Magpies playing at Unley Oval.

Re: TV Coverage
Depends who's commentating?
Surely, they would poach some people with SANFL knowledge?

You would hope so, but probably not...sapaul wrote:Depends who's commentating?

Guys like Kym Morgan and Chris Kendall would deserve the opportunity but who knows if they will get it?
Neil Cross would not be involved, due to his employment with ABC Adelaide, one would think?
I would say Mark Soderstrom would be a part of the coverage, so at least he has some SANFL knowledge...
Maybe Chris Ditmar and Dale Lewis would be involved, as well?
Perhaps eartotheground will have a bit more insight on who they would utilise?

Re: TV Coverage
So now, unlike the Fantastic coverage by the ABC, we will be inundated with adverts after every goal is scored, great way to go SANFL, the coverage will never be the same.

Ditts isn't at 7 anymore, is he?Big Phil wrote:I would say Mark Soderstrom would be a part of the coverage, so at least he has some SANFL knowledge...

K.G possibly?
Re: TV Coverage
Would be highly unlikely that Dittmar or Lewis would commentate, given their contractual arrangements with Triple M's AFL coverage.sapaul wrote:Ditts isn't at 7 anymore, is he?Big Phil wrote:I would say Mark Soderstrom would be a part of the coverage, so at least he has some SANFL knowledge...

I would love to be approached, but wouldn't happen, mate. I've only just come off my first full season of calling footy...sapaul wrote:What if they approached you, Phil?
Both Phil's and C.K. That would be awesome
I hope the likes of John Nankivell, Kym Morgan, Chris Kendall and Phil Herden do get considered, though...

All of the above, including Big Phil, love their SANFL footy. I hope whoever calls the games is the same.

Re: TV Coverage
No offense to John Nankivell who is a great caller (actually, I voted for him in the fans survey) but if you have a great head for radio Phil, not sure what that says about him

Re: TV Coverage
I know I am part of the "Good Heads For Radio" Club. CK is the handsome one.
Also there is a slight issue that I have regular home match obligations to the Eagles during the season (Just signed new contract for 2 more years) which is why I am only a part timer on radio as it is.
Then there is my extensive on field footy background to throw in.
At a guess I could see a similar approach taken as done with the Foxtel Cup where it is seen as a development step for AFL media to grow in in a commentary role.
Only change is that the crew surely would be from SA.
You would hope from a credibility factor that at least one of the team had some sort of SANFL expertise.
All conjecture however as no deal done yet. (I think)

Re: TV Coverage
Mark Soderstrom will nearly certainly head the coverage, more likely in a couple of capacities. Outside of that, it may depend on who Seven wants to train for higher duties down the track.

So, in your opinion ettg, do you think the likes of Chris Kendall and Kym Morgan are a chance to be approached?eartotheground wrote:Mark Soderstrom will nearly certainly head the coverage, more likely in a couple of capacities. I hope they are at least spoken to...

Re: TV Coverage
It would depend on what the overall position is that any commercial network holds on broadcasting the games. Are they aiming to use it as a means of publicising the SANFL and maintaining a commitment to local sport, or is it seen as part their AFL coverage and therefore, a means of also using existing AFL staff to help with their contracts.
