Stribling and Pfeiffer leave South Empty Stribling and Pfeiffer leave South

Post by Ben W Thu Jun 27, 2013 6:49 pm

From the SAFC,

South Adelaide Announcement:

The South Adelaide Football Club advises that Toby Stribling and Todd Pfeiffer have left the club. In an environment where the Club is needing an energetic, determined and positive approach from all parties to turn around our on-field performance, Toby and Todd have asked to be released from their current playing contracts.

We understand there will be some disappointment from our supporters with this situation and we look forward to working with the playing group as they give their all to realise the potential of the team.

Translation:

They're a couple of selfish, weak no-hopers and we're better off without them. P.ss off.

Stribling is one of the best midfielders going around (imho) but after leaving (for whatever the reasons) North & South would any other club give him a contract ?

Is Ron Fuller a full time coach at South?  I ask because there is a long standing debate about whether full time coaches with players who are basically part time, is a good idea or not. It's becoming increasingly common for players to leave the SANFL because they feel they can no longer balance the demands made on them by coaches, with the demands of their jobs, studies, families etc. It's no secret that we've lost a number of good players for this reason at Sturt in recent years, even without a full time coach.

A very good point, cc, but as you say, not necessarily connected to having a full time coach.

Many people don't realise the time constraints on players. It's not just training and playing, but also a number of other things hey're required to do, such ad Auskick clinics, sponsors' obligations, meetings, seminars and a lot if other things.

If you're a fringe player and not getting a league game, an offer from a country or local club for several times more money and a lot less time becomes very attractive.

You would have thought the time for this sort of clamp-down on sub-standard attitude was about 4 years ago.

not one SANFL club is irrelevant, they are 1/9th of the SANFL pie which is equal with all others, also they are like all clubs part of the traditions, history, landscape etc of South Australian football, it was a sad day when West Torrens had to merge with Woodville even though the finished product is good it still lost that special something that they were as individuals, so no team is irrelevant not even South

I don't think any club is irrelevant, too much history.
We Sturt people at the moment can hardly be espousing irrelevance!

Relevance will come down to who can pay their bills.
In current context terms, South are more relevant than Sturt.

South have a set of problems, Sturt have a set of problems, I think every club has a set of problems. None of those I consider warrant a test against "relevance".

If you have been part of the sanfl for as long as these clubs have, then they command respect in terms of their relevance.

.......and then again we have the Crows who want to come in. Do they command the same relevance?

BINGO!! ...it has failed!!

A full time coach and after 4 years a club still with the same issues. It should have been sorted out by now.

Just not good enough IMO.

You happen to take things too personally W.
I haven't got it in for you. I just happen not to agree.
I put it on $$ terms, you put it on footy terms.
In the end, I think my terms would prevail.
Not right, not wrong, just the way things are.

Personally, I just about have had enough of it.

Just gets you down after all the years of it.  I can understand having a spell of bad seasons but we always get promises shoved in our faces ÿear after year"......you get false hopes, get crap for being a South supporter, go to games and see players putting in no efforts......just builds up after a while.

I personally feel the club sometimes just takes us for granted sometimes. We do not get much back.

I have other things going on in my life right now that are good and bad and I find the stress of it all and the downers I get from returning from another thrashing taking its toll slowly. Just wish the club could understand what some supporters feel sometimes but I think they sometimes are more concerned about running a profit OFF field and dont have ON Field high up on the agenda.

Mrs Southee always says Í don't know why you torture yourself going to games".  I am always in a crappy mood after games.

Maybe I just need to shut shop for the year and focus on things in my life that I need too.

Just really flat with all the BS going on ATM ......just really had it with them. Sad

Well said, Southee. South supporters deserve far better than what's been dished up for so long.

PS: If you do go tomorrow, let's catch up if you can.
