Sturt v Port at The Parade, Friday night.
Port won't be looking forward to visiting The Parade in consecutive rounds.
The good news is that they won't have Norwood's choking pressure to contend with. The bad news is that Sturt showed they could play, just not for long enough.
Port haven't yet showed they can play, so they'll be out to atone.

if dry Sturt comfortably, if wet it'll be close as both teams are lightly framed (generally speaking)

Just had an email from Sturt Football Manager Paul Sandercock, advising that the Under 16's are the curtain raiser to the League game on Friday night and the Reserves are playing with the Under 18's at Alberton on Saturday...

please note, this i believe is a 7.10pm start & not the usual 7.40pm Norwood Oval start

Cheers bayman
I just organised a "meet" at the Old Col at 7pm
Have to make it earlier to get a couple of pints of Coopers Stout in (purely to maintain core warmth on the night)

Sturt are looking to gain benefit by playing matches at Norwood Oval and I wish them well. I think they'll celebrate with a win over Port tonight by 20-30 points.

Sturt looked OK to me last week, but disappeared.
Port look to be in a bit of bother.
Sturt to win this.
Good luck to Ben Newton, quality lad.

Think this will be a close match, Sturt by less than a goal.

Not good being 10 goals up and to win by 1.
30 points up at the 22 minutes mark of the last.
I tell you the young Blue boys are brittle and Seamus is slow to react to what is going on. Not good.
But a win is a win.

Cheers R&B,
Sturt got out of jail tonight, yet credit to them they won the points irrespective of how they got there.
Johncock kicking a lazy seven for the Pies was not a bad effort to help them rally and come back stinging as they did. Still, if you exclude the AFL players from Port that kicked Goals, Johncock, Butcher and Grey its an interesting result. Both Butcher and Grey would have to be a strong chance of getting a run for the Power sooner rather than later, as for Johncock he seems to have fallen out of favor with Sanderson at the AFC, so I suspect Port might have him for a while yet irrespective of how good he does in the SANFL.

Re: Sturt v Port at The Parade, Friday night.
SANFL officials sent out a revised crowd figure from this evening's game...
Was just over 2,800 originally, new figure is - 3,015
Not much better and no doubt disappointing for Sturt and the League...

I think Port Adelaide getting belted the week before at the same venue, plus the Power playing at home this weekend may have kept some Port supporters away.

I agree Adelaide Hawk. Although Sturt have traditionally been good attenders so I would still think too many of their own have let them down here. I don't think at the moment the club can afford the luxury of people "taking a stand" on home games being played elsewhere (for those that might have). I am very sympathetic toward the club who are trying to do whatever it takes to resurrect their fortunes but I hold grave fears for them after last night. I understand the Debt Demolition has gone very well but the supporters need to be vigilant for the long haul. Hope they can get their numbers up.

Re: Sturt v Port at The Parade, Friday night.
Again, I agree. Have Sturt been helped by a 'white knight '?
Hopefully so, but can anyone who was there tell us if it seemed to be Sturt or Port supporters who seemed not to turn up, or was it about equal?
Either way, it was very disappointing and might spell the sudden end to this experiment. On the other hand, presumably it would have cost less for Sturt to have it at Norwood.
As much as I dislike Port, you want to see their supporters turn up to games, or was it just the economics of a Port AFL and SANFL game making it unaffordable on the same weekend?
