Tony Bamford? Empty Tony Bamford?

Rumours around the traps suggest that Tony Bamford may not be Coaching the PAFC next season???

BAMFORD IN LIMBO

Tony Bamford hopes to hear early this week whether he will continue as coach of Port Adelaide next season.

Bamford met with PAFC director Alex Panas, football director George Fiacchi and general manager Brian Leys for his coaching review on Wednesday last week and indicated his desire to pick up the option on the final year of his contract.

Port's hierarchy is understandably concerned with the Magpies' on field performance this season, particularly the inconsistency of the side.

Whether they hold Bamford responsible for this remains to be seen.

I spoke to Leys on Friday and he said the committee was yet to make a decision on Bamford.

Even if he is sacked as coach, Bamford may not be lost to the club.

He has been serving the dual role of league coach and talent manager for the past three years and could continue in his position of developing the Magpies youngsters.

On one hand, I think well why should they renew?

But I've seen it at Westies, sometimes patience is the key for what hopefully will be long-term success. Many pundits thought Collins should have been shown the door years ago.

not that i can talk being a Glenelg supporter but stability is a good ingredient to have, also if they can get a proven coach well maybe be but if they got another first up coach it would be just guessing he (or she) would be better

personally i think he's done well with limited cattle

Not that I care that much one way or the other.

For 2 seasons they have been playing for a finals spot in the last round or two.

On both occasions, they went to water with a fairly dispirited effort.
That has to count badly on reappointing a coach you would think.

Do they have better options available? They probably have a few dollars now to find out if they think a change may spark the group up.

Wasn't the agreement that the football departments of the Power and Magpies be completely separate? I thought that was one of the conditions of the unification.
