Re: Port in SANFL 2014
The ink on the agreement is barely dry when Port apply to vary it for Summerton.

R&B
I was about to write the same thing about Summerton. Could to see the SANFL reject Ports request to have him as their sole leadership player.
I wonder how much Summerton is being paid to play for Port next year?

You've asked twice about how much Summerton is going be paid while playing for Port next year...
I've found the answer for you - $400.00

Thanks mate.He obviously had his contract changed for 2014 to be paid $400.00 a game.
A class player like that accepting $400.00 a game. Hmmm makes you think?

Re: Port in SANFL 2014
So Summerton gets $7,200 a year for two years, then probably $100,000 in year 3.
Fancy me suggesting Port would find a way to get around the spirit and the word of the agreement.

i'll bet (if Port have any real clear logic with this) they will do nothing to upset the other clubs next year, then get an agreement to keep things as they are on a long term basis & then rort the agreed system................presuming they are that smart or will arrogance take over ?

Noone plays the game better than Port. Supporters of other clubs loathe them for it. Supporters of the club love them for it.

By comparison, where is the Crows commitment to community?
Not to mention development...
The 19th man...from wherever?
Top up players...from wherever?
Our (Port Adelaide) "true agenda" is we exist to win Premierships.
We are Port Adelaide.
The whole point of the AFL teams entering the SANFL was to play all their players in a 'Reserves' team together. The Crows have kept to their word by getting top up players from the existing clubs, as they always said they would.
It's a bit rich to be making it a virtue if Port stack their team with Magpie players at $400 a game and play rookie AFL players in a lower grade team, if that's what they do.
The inevitable result will be that the other SANFL teams rightly call for sanctions. They already don't trust Port's word, with good reason.
You simply cannot compare the AFC franchise with the Port Adelaide Football Club. Adelaide had no choice but to agree to those terms if they wanted all their players in one team in the SANFL.
Port Adelaide with junior, reserves and COMMUNITY structures in place are a different issue and one that has, will be and is hotly debated.
Port always said they wanted their AFL listed players playing under one structure, one game style, ONE CLUB. If that's in the reserves or league thats a PAFC selection issue and not for the consideration of anyone else, I think.

It's great to see you are so passionate about your football cub which I admire. However I don't buy any ofthe community stuff.

Mr Booney & other Port people,
i have (what too me) is an interesting question & i'm very interested in hearing what your answers are & infact what the official confirmation is
when Port the SANFL team wins a match next year which song will we hear playing, will it be
''Cheer Cheer'' ?
or
''Never Stop Stop Stop'' ?

They're the Magpies, wearing black and white. Easy.

They should have changed their song when they merged with Port Adelaide at the end of 2010 and became a new club - Next year will be its 4th Year as a club

Re: Port in SANFL 2014
see that is where this is all wrong, if it is the Power reserves team wearing a Magpie jumper out of respect to its heritage it should be using the Power song (imho off course), after all if players are learning game plans they better learn the song as well

Re: Port in SANFL 2014
I did Booney - But I went to the SANFL CEO and discussed the position of the league.
It happens that in 2010 when Port wanted to unite its membership and clubs, that it had to merge its two entities. When this was ratified, the new club had to forfeit its ties with the SANFL hence why the SANFL became eight voting directors.
As I was entering Sturt FC stats yesterday, I read with interest that its CEO and Football Director in its Annual Report documents the the merger of the Port clubs and creation of the new Port Adelaide > Thus this confirmed the SANFL CEO's discussion I had (Chris Davies wasn't CEO of the SANFL when the merger and death of the Port Magpies officially occurred). It was well done by Port as an entity to keep this so quiet. So, Yes I was wrong - Port died three years ago and played its first season in 2011 as an entity. This is also why Port Magpies no longer produces a stand alone annual report like it did before the merger in 2010. Hence in 2011, 2012 - You will notice if you are a member of the AFL club that the Magpies is now included in this annual report AND club yearbooks as the one port adelaide with two arms.
Hence, Adelaide FC will be the new club in 2014 and Port will be in its 3rd season.
I stand corrected but its probably not the news you wanted to hear
